Our aim is to be leaders in outdoor learning, enabling young people to participate in high quality outdoor learning experiences that deliver learning and personal development.
For us, this means learning within an outdoor environment to support a young person’s personal, social and educational development; improve health and wellbeing and environmental awareness. The outdoor space in which learning takes place, is an integral part of the learning process.
Our outdoor learning team at Avon Tyrrell deliver experiential outdoor learning, that gives young people the opportunity to participate in high quality experiences that deliver learning and personal development. Our aim is to increase the accessibility and quality of outdoor learning for young people across the UK, helping us to become a national leader.
Young people are at the heart of our ethos and approach, to ensure we continue to provide high quality outdoor learning we have created five key principles as part of our distinctive ‘experience, learn and develop’ model. These will help shape and influence our future approach to young people, as we continue to support their personal, social, and educational development, improve health and wellbeing and environmental awareness.
We are fortunate to be the custodians of Avon Tyrrell, our own dedicated leading outdoor learning venue in the heart of the New Forest National Park, dedicated to the continuous development of young people. The site offers so much to young people, they can experience the natural environment with the freedom of being away from home. Our unique heritage and beautiful site features a range of accommodation options, including a Grade I listed calendar house, lodges and camping areas. Through an extensive range of inclusive outdoor activities and tailored programmes, we provide the opportunity for everyone to ‘experience, learn and develop’.
